Many people suffer the pain and misery of losing their teeth as they get older. All of our lives our teeth are under attack from bacteria and plaque, and if we are not very careful this can cause irreparable damage that results in tooth loss. Once the first tooth has been lost to decay or disease, it becomes harder to effectively protect the other teeth. It may also be the case that teeth have been lost in an accident or sporting injury. Whatever the cause, losing teeth can affect both the way you look and the functionality of your mouth. This can mean a sagging of facial tissue and difficulty performing simple tasks such as eating and drinking.

However, there is an alternative for patients who have lost their teeth. Dentures have been used for many years to replace missing natural teeth. Although in the past dentures may have been a poor substitute for real teeth, modern dentures are vastly improved and can help to restore both the appearance of your teeth and your ability to live a normal life.

Some patients who wear dentures are anxious about them being loose or falling out. A good set of dentures should stay in place with suction around the gums alone but this is not always the case. If your dentures are loose you can either have them resized at your West London dentist or you could use one of the many denture adhesive products on the market. Alternatively, you could opt for a set of implants to act as a secure base.

Dentures perform all the functions of natural teeth. They act as a facial support for muscles and restore the aesthetic appearance of the smile. Find out more by asking our Clinical denture Technician
