Dr Petros-Ioannis Moschouris

Petros was raised in Chios (Greece) in a family with great tradition in dentistry. His father holds a very successful private practice since 1982. This influence became apparent when he entered with honors in the Dental School of Athens University (Greece) in 2001. Following that he started practicing dentistry privately.

In 2007, he was selected for specialist training in Periodontics (“gums” and implant dentistry) at the world renowned Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, which he passed with distinctions. This is one of the very few programs across Europe, the only within UK, which is recognized from the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). There are approximately only 250 periodontists with similar qualifications across the country.

In 2009 he was appointed as a part time Honorary Clinical Assistant in Periodontology at the Eastman (London). Moreover he enjoys sharing his knowledge and he was among the instructors of the 1st ITI (International Team of Implantology) educational week, organized in London (2010).

He has an active research portfolio focusing on Bone Regeneration. His research was the first study globally to evaluate the effect of specific proteins in bone regeneration. He presented promising results in recreating the bone lost from periodontal disease and augmenting the bone volume around dental implants. This research is in the process to be presented in International Symposiums and to be published in important International Dental Journals.

Nowadays, Petros is based in London and is working as an EFP accredited Periodontist and Implant Surgeon in private practices in London and surrounding areas. Petros has extensive experience with treatment of advanced gum disease with expertise on non-surgical and surgical treatment of periodontal disease, including conventional and regenerative periodontal surgery using the most advanced, scientifically tested and safe biomaterials.

He has also special interest in cosmetic gum surgery, periodontal plastic surgery, improving the smile and dental implants alone or in combination with guided bone regeneration (GBR). He has experience with most dental implant systems available in the market.

He provides periodontal and implant treatment based on the most advanced evidence based approach. Finally he is member in the Hellenic and British Societies of Periodontology, an ITI member and member of the International Association of Dental Research (IADR).

In his spare time he enjoys photography, swimming and sailing.
